New Years resolutions, do we need them?

A couple of days ago I saw this quote about New Years resolutions. The new year has started 11 days ago and a lot of people make New Years resolutions. Do you need it? Or a better question would be: do you follow it? 

When I think about New Years resolutions a lot of people start in January withit it and when it's February everyone forget what their New Years resolutions were. Are you also someone like this? Do you also forget your New Years resolutions? Think about it. When the answer is yes, why are you still making them every year? 

The quote above is what I think is the best thing to do. And also something I do since a couple of months. I see what will come on my path. I'm not making any New Years resolutions anymore because I know I don't even follow them or make them happen. It's better to take every day as it comes. You will see if you succeed and if you're happy with the day you had. Think about that. You can make the next day better if your day wasn't that good. There are days when things didn't go as planned. But you can learn from it.

I was and still am that I look a lot at the things I did wrong. It stays in my head and the good things from a day dissapear. I only think about the negative things that happen that day. I'm trying every day now to think more positive. I ask myself the next question: Are you happy about your day? What was the thing you're the happiest about today? I learned from someone special it's good to say to yourself or even write it down every day one thing you're happy about that day. You do this as long as you want. You can do it your whole life if this is needed. 

You're probably wondering: What can I say to myself? I will tell you a secret. In the beginning (and I just started last week) I had it also difficult to say something positive. But now it's getting more and more easier to write down something positive. It can be about everything. Here's an example from myself: I'm happy that the children in my class liked my new hair color. Another example is that I'm happy that I can laugh with someone special. That I'm having fun when we are together. 

But when are you doing things like this? I'm doing it in the evening before I go to bed. My notebook and pen are laying next to my bed. If I'm doing it like this then I don't forget about it. You can also do it first thing in the morning. Then you can ask yourself the question what are you happy about the previous day or maybe you are happy about something that will happen that day. You're not like me so when you want to do it you need to see what will work for you. I'm also not a psychologist but this works for me and I wanted to share it with you.

For me this is my everyday resolution. It's something that helps me to stay positive and let me think about the good things in life.
